I have always been fascinated with what seems to be the human, or maybe American, desire to overindulge in material and toothsome treats.

Whether it be the obese person enjoying the gigantic sundae or the hobo sipping ripple, everyone has a vice.

Coney Island is a veritable melting pot of indulgences - games, rides, cotton candy, hot dogs, alcohol, sun, sun-bathing - there is something for everyone. Rich or poor, fat or slim, everyone is welcome to it.

My art is focused on these individuals. Every summer they come in droves to be and take in whatever it is that makes them happy. The biggest thrill I get is seeing the 300 lb man, wearing nothing but a speedo sprawled out on his beach blanket oblivious to the world around him. Or, the chubby little girl in her pink Sunday finery, throwing a tantrum because her brother got cotton candy and she didn't.

These scenes, these passing moments are what inspire me. The ordinary becoming extraordinary in Coney Island.
